  • Window Repair

    • In most cases, yes. A broken handle, stiff hinge, or faulty lock are all repair jobs — no need to replace the frame. Even misted glass only requires the glass unit replacing, not the whole window. We'll always tell you honestly which option makes sense.
    • Most window repairs start from £120 + VAT. This covers handle replacement, hinge replacement, and lock or mechanism repairs. We agree the price before starting any work.
    • A window that won't lock is a security issue and should be repaired promptly. In most cases it's a faulty handle mechanism or lock — a straightforward repair. Call us and we'll aim to visit the same day or next day.
    • This is almost always a hinge fault — either the friction has gone or the hinge itself is broken. It's a standard repair at £145 + VAT per window, with additional windows on the same visit at a reduced rate.
    • Most window repairs take 30–60 minutes. We carry the most common hinges, handles, and mechanisms with us, so we can complete most jobs in a single visit.
  • Door Repair

    • The most common cause is door drop — the hinges have worn and the door has dropped out of alignment with the frame. It's usually a straightforward repair: hinge adjustment or replacement, from £135 + VAT. If the door closes but won't latch, the lock mechanism may need replacing.
    • Most common door repairs start from £120 + VAT. This covers handle replacement, hinge adjustment and realignment, and lock replacements. A multipoint locking mechanism replacement is £350 + VAT. We agree the price before starting any work.
    • Most door repairs are completed in a single visit, usually within 1–2 hours. We carry the most common parts with us, so we rarely need to return for parts.
    • Yes. We repair composite doors including lock mechanisms, handles, hinges, and glass panels. Composite doors use the same multipoint locking systems as uPVC doors, so parts are readily available.
    • Yes. We repair patio door rollers and tracks, French door hinges and locks, and bi-fold door alignment. Call us to describe what your door is doing and we'll advise whether it's a repair job.
  • Window Install

    • Most single window installations take 1–2 hours. Lead time from order to fitting is typically 3–6 weeks — windows are made to measure.
    • The Assure Register is a government-approved competent persons scheme. Being accredited means we self-certify that installations meet building regulations, and every job comes with an insurance-backed guarantee. You receive a certificate confirming compliance — important when selling your home.
    • In most cases, no — replacing like-for-like is permitted development. Exceptions include listed buildings and some conservation areas. We'll advise if your property may have restrictions.
    • All our window installations carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty on glass and frames, plus an insurance-backed guarantee on workmanship via the Assure Register scheme.
  • Glass

    • It means the seal on your double-glazed unit has failed. Moisture has got between the panes and is condensing. The fix is to replace the glass unit — not the whole window. The frame itself is usually fine. From £165 + VAT per unit.
    • No. In most cases you only need the sealed glass unit replaced. This is significantly cheaper than a full window replacement. If the frame is in good condition, a glass unit replacement is the right call.
    • Toughened safety glass is a legal requirement for all door glass panels, and for window panes within 300mm of a door or within 800mm of floor level. We always quote toughened glass for these positions — no exceptions.
    • We measure and order the glass unit first, which typically takes around one week. Fitting takes 30–60 minutes. Most glass replacements are completed within 7–10 days of your initial call.
  • Door Install

    • A standard door installation takes 2–4 hours. Lead time from order is typically 3–6 weeks — composite and uPVC doors are made to order. We confirm the installation date when you accept the quote.
    • A composite door has a solid timber core wrapped in GRP (fibreglass), making it heavier, more rigid, and better insulated than a uPVC door. Composite is the better choice for a front door where appearance and security matter. uPVC is excellent value for rear and side doors.
    • Not separately — as Assure Register accredited installers, we self-certify compliance on your behalf. You receive a certificate confirming compliance, required when selling your home.
    • 50% deposit when you accept the quote, 50% on completion. Bank transfer only — no card payments.
