What Photos Should I Send for a Quote?
A few clear photos let us give you a price or honest advice without a visit. Don't worry about getting it perfect — a couple of straightforward snaps on your phone is all we need to get started.
The simple version
For almost any job, two photos do the trick:
- One photo of the whole window or door — stand back so we can see all of it, from a normal distance
- One closer photo of the problem — the crack, the misted pane, the broken handle, the gap where it won't close
That's it. No measuring, no tools, nothing technical. If you can add a photo of the outside of the property where we'd be working, that helps us plan access — but it's optional.
People often hold off getting in touch because they think they need exact sizes. You don't — that's our job. A clear photo is enough for us to give you a likely price or point you in the right direction.
By type of job
Window repairs (hinges, handles, locks)
A photo of the whole window open, plus a close-up of the handle, hinge or lock that's playing up. If a handle is loose or spinning, or a window won't stay open or won't lock, the close-up usually tells us what part is needed.
Door repairs (won't close, won't lock)
A photo of the whole door closed, and a close-up of where it's catching or the lock/handle that's faulty. If you can, a quick note on what it's doing — "drags at the bottom", "handle won't lift", "won't lock since it got stiff" — helps a lot. See door repairs.
Patio, French & bifold doors
A photo of the full set of doors, plus the specific fault — a dropped panel, a track, the handle, or the spot where they won't meet or slide. For bifolds especially, a photo with the doors part-open helps us see how they're sitting. See also patio and French door repairs.
Misted or broken glass
A photo of the whole window or door showing which pane is affected, and a closer shot of the misting or the crack. For misted glass it's worth taking the photo in daylight so the cloudiness shows. For broken glass that's a security risk, get in touch straight away.
Specialist glass — obscure, integral blinds, acoustic, solar, fire-rated
A photo of the window or door and a note on what you're after — privacy glass for a bathroom, integral blinds, noise reduction, less glare and heat, or obscure glass. For fire-rated glass, a close-up of any markings etched in the corner of the glass is really useful.
Landlords & managed properties
The same simple photos work brilliantly for rentals — the tenant can take them and send them on, so we can quote without arranging access twice. A list of addresses and faults is perfect for a portfolio. See landlord repairs.
