A worked example
A composite front door with one side panel: £1,800 for the door + £200–£500 for the panel = £2,000–£2,300 + VAT (£2,400–£2,760 inc VAT), all fitted. Add glass above the door as well and it's another £210–£370 + VAT.
What the £1,800 + VAT includes
- The door and frame, made to measure for your doorway
- Any colour you like, at the same price
- Your choice of glass design — clear, frosted or patterned
- The handle, knocker and letterbox finish you choose
- Measuring up, fitting by our own team, and taking your old door away
- Your Assure Register certificate (building regulations)
- A 10-year manufacturer warranty on the glass and frame, and a 1-year warranty on locks, hinges and handles
£1,800 covers any regular-sized front door. Side panels, glass above the door and stable doors are priced separately.
Two composite doors we've fitted
Avonmouth — replacing a tired uPVC door

An old Victorian house with an old uPVC front door. It was draughty and noisy and had seen better days. We replaced it with a navy composite door — a nice, straightforward fit.
Bradley Stoke — the landlord who came back

A landlord called us about a new front door for her rented house. She liked it so much that she called us back to fit a second one on her own home — same colour, same style.
How it works
- Send a photo of your door and one of the building — you get a price back.
- We measure up. The price is fixed, so you know it before anyone visits. When you're ready to go ahead, we come and measure up and confirm everything in your written quote.
- Your door is made to measure — usually 3–6 weeks.
- Fitting day. Our own team takes the old door out and fits the new one. Most doors are finished by early afternoon.
Why composite door quotes vary so much
UK price guides quote anything from about £1,000 to £4,000 for a fitted composite door. Two quotes for what looks like the same door can be a long way apart because:
- Some prices include VAT and some don't
- Some include fitting and taking the old door away, some don't
- Colours, glass and handles are sometimes charged as extras
- Side panels and glass above the door are sometimes left out of the headline price
That's why we keep one fixed price for the door, whatever colour, glass and handle you choose, and show every price both with and without VAT.
Questions to ask on any composite door quote
- Is VAT included?
- Does it include fitting and taking the old door away?
- Are side panels or glass above the door included, or priced on top?
- Will you get a building regulations certificate? We register every door we fit with Assure, and the certificate is included.
- What warranty comes with it, and on which parts?
Composite or uPVC?
For a front door, a composite costs about the same as a good uPVC door, so it mostly comes down to looks and feel. A composite door is heavier and feels more solid when you close it. For a back door, uPVC is the lower-cost choice. More in our composite vs uPVC guide.
